For those who are into the visual crossover madness of Lego and Graffiti and Street Art, there's going to be a nice exhibition with works from Cole Blaq, the Buntlack crew, Acid 79, Chill, Baks, Diabolo, Pley und Riko.
Also the catalogue of the LEGO Graffiti Styles Convention in Munich December 2009 will be released, with great impressions of the event and high quality images of all the artwork .

My first kinetik attempt. Building a gear to reduce the speed of the motor was the biggest issue and fitting a fully articulated style into the spraycan.
I have no stand and shooting a film of it in action is now impossible for me, one has to see it.
The lighting does not compliment the build, neither the backdrop or the trans-black cylinder. No matter, trans-blue looked worser in relation to the orange-dk tan inside.
I tried to break the simple flow of the letters by counterhighlighting with dk tan, but I think it's too distractive, as the letters are partly covered and the trans-black cylinder also blurrs it.

I'll have to rework the tan parts and make new flix with a bright backdrop...to be continued.

Warum mache ich das was ich mache?

Ganz einfach – ich mache es gerne, ich fühle mich dazu berufen, ich folge eine Art innerem Drang, der mir manchmal auch wie ein Zwang vorkommt. Das ist meine Kommunikation mit der Welt. Kommunikation im doppelten Sinne. Zum einen als das reine Bildmedium zum anderen aber auch das Spiel mit den Buchstaben, die Sinnbildträger der Kommunikation sind. Dabei spielen Syntax oder Kodifizierung von sprachlichen Bedeutungsinhalten keine Rolle. Das der lateinischen Schrift zugrundeliegende Alphabet, namentlich die Buchstaben ist primär eine visuell manifeste Form der Kommunikation, eine Formsprache. Die Essenz der Gesetze denen Buchstaben unterliegen ist der Raum den ich zu bespielen suche, wobei Binnenstruktur und Umgebung wechselseitig changieren können. Die Dehnung und Formung der Buchstaben bei gleichzeitiger Simplifikation ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil meines persönlichen Verständnisses von ‚Style’. Lesbarkeit ist Priorität. Dabei geht es nicht darum, dass die Schriftzüge gelesen und dementsprechend potentiell phonetisch transkodiert werden könnten. Der phonetische Inhalt wäre lediglich eine weitere Kodifizierung von Bedeutungsinhalten, mit denen die Betrachter nicht viel anfangen könnten. Sie würden lediglich immer und immer wieder auf ein Wort treffen, der scheinbar bezugslos das Objekt beschreibt. Die stete Wiederholung meines Synonyms ist vielmehr der Prozess der steten Erneuerung und Entwicklung, die in der Klarheit der Form Ausdruck findet. Die Klarheit und Lesbarkeit ist eher ein Anspruch den ich an die Welt stelle – also Ausdruck meines innersten Selbst - und der in meinem Schaffen zur Geltung kommt.

Das Material Lego als vorgefertigte Ready-mades beschäftigt mich zur Zeit sehr. Legobausteine können additiv und substraktiv eingesetzt werden. Die meisten anderen Materialien – vor allem die klassischen – sind in Ihrer Grundstruktur entweder oder. Auf Grund einiger einschneidender Lebenserfahrungen hat sich der Schwerpunkt meines Wirkens weg von dem nunmehr klassischen Graffiti in Form von Sprühlacken hin zu einer plastischen Ausdrucksweise verlagert. Graffiti sind immer noch ein wesentlicher Bestandteil meiner formalen Sprache, doch die hinzugekommene Haptik, die unterschiedlichen Blickwinkel einer Skulptur, die neue Vorgehensweise aber auch die Limitierung der Farben und der ‚freien’ Formen ermöglichen mir andere Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten.
